  • •Building "Bigger Bird", a PyTorch sparse-attention router with diversity-aware local top-k and submodular global token routing.
  • •Driving the attention pattern cost down from O(n^2) to O(n) while porting the gains into Triton NVIDIA kernels and FlashAttention-style optimizations.
  • •Prototyping discrete routing (MMR, facility-location / p-median objectives, positional priors) to boost throughput and latency across long-context workloads.

About

Turtle

Hi. I'm Thomas. I am a 4th-year Computer Science student at the University of Toronto St. George campus. I'm obsessed with neuroscience (mainly neocortex), quantitative trading (to support my future startup & research), and neuroscience-inspired AI.

I was born in Korea. My interest in computers sparked when I immigrated to Canada in 2014. What started as a fun hobby playing Minecraft with friends quickly turned into developing an RPG server with a community of over 200 members on Discord and running YouTube.

During this time, I managed a team of seven developers. This experience fueled my passion for programming, and I began learning Unity game development. During this elementary to high school period, I learned Java, C#, Turing, HTML, CSS, JS, and Python.

After enrolling at the University of Toronto, I've gained more experience with full-stack web development and machine learning from work, research, hackathons, and side projects. Now, I can code very well with Python, JS/TS, C#, Java, and C/C++.

I've now done 4 paid work terms, won 3 hackathons, and run a side project/startup. You can explore some of my work in the projects section.

I'm very active on X/Twitter to share my thoughts on AI, so feel free to follow me there.
